The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria has said armed Air Force personnel did not invade the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

This is in reaction to a report by an online news platform(Not The PUNCH) that alleged that the armed personnel stormed the airport after videos exposed the corruption at the airport.

FAAN, in a statement issued on Thursday by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said what took place was a routine security operation to rid the airport of touts and miscreants

The statement read “In contrast to a story broadcasted by an online news medium, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the general public that the Nigerian Air Force did not invade the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos as wrongly stated.

"What took place was a routine Security operation by a Joint Aviation Security Task Force comprising personnel from Aviation Security (Avsec), Department of Security Services (DSS) and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to rid the airport of touts and miscreants, in accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices.”
